You guys remember my dilemma during the last Total Lunar Eclipse right? yeah, too bad I had to miss it on purpose! Why? Because obviously, I was pregnant back then. I did note that there was going to be a lunar eclipse before the year ends but no thanks to my not-so-good-and-reliable memory, I almost missed it!

Twas a good thing that my dad had called me downstairs that night and told me about what was happening. I was so busy that day that the eclipse completely slipped my mind. That, and I was at the in-laws too so I wasn't on Twitter as well. *sigh* Being offline these days is almost equivalent to getting lost. Must stay connected all the time! Is this what the world is coming to really?



I wanted to capture every phase of the eclipse but I missed the start... Oh well, guess I'll have to wait for the next total lunar eclipse then. It should be on April 15, 2014! HOMAYGULAY! Kadugay paba ana! And I don't think that's visible from where I'm from. I should be anticipating the October 8, 2014 eclipse instead if I'm gonna be here exactly where I am right now.

But not to worry, there is a partial eclipse next year on June 4, 2012 and a penumbral one on November 28, 2012.

Did anything unusual happen during the last total eclipse last December 10th? Not here. Might be some dragons hatched somewhere else. Tee hee.

Last night's total LUNAR eclipse was not to be missed, that is if you aren't pregnant. In my case, living in a society where superstition is a tad more prevalent than alcoholism, where culture has taught us to be wary of things without any scientific explanations, then staying indoors during a LUNAR eclipse (a total one at that) is a definite MUST! Unless you want to hear your elders scold you endlessly or you don't mind upsetting your loved ones...

So I missed it. Then again, I didn't want to take my chances or risk my baby's life. I wore red and put a red cloth on my tummy (even tied a red ribbon across my belly), and also placed a safety pin and a metal key near my abdomen.

But from where I come from, even in Facebook so many have testified and warned me so I dare not break even the most ridiculous of superstitions.

What have I got to lose anyway? Just missing the lunar eclipse and the chance to shoot the moon with my new lens I guess... But my stupid cousin offered to stay up all night, teasing me relentlessly, and shot the moon for me instead. Thanks, Dewnelle.

It was a Blood Moon after all... and the longest Total Lunar Eclipse - 1 hour and 40 minutes!!! The next such an eclipse is forecasted to occur only in 2141. Pak!Then again, there are other sites saying that the next total lunar eclipse of exceptional length will come on July 27, 2018, and will last 106 minutes. Also, there were talks all over the internet about the rapture happening... but hey, here we are... still alive, still kicking!

I guess I'll have to wait for the next lunar eclipse to capture my own photo of the moon. Til then I pray that my baby be safe -- no strawberry birthmarks, cleft lips, or other birth deformities please.

It's not TWILIGHT, okay? I still do not get that movie, nor will I ever try to understand it. Tee hee!

Anyway, I wanted to shoot the moon at 7PM because it was a PARTIAL ECLIPSE tonight... but my laziness got the best of me. (And I had to look for the freaking tripod!!!)

But at 9:08PM, I tried my luck.. and voila! Here's the moon, QUASI-eclipsed! LOL!!!





I should practice shooting some more. Ugh.

Last night, I decided to resume watching my Sailor Moon Stars (Season 5) DVD and a few minutes into watching the episodes, my dad told me the exciting news. He said, "Naa'y lunar eclipse karon gabie!" (There's a lunar eclipse tonight!)

WHAT A COINCIDENCE!!! Hmmm... Are the people of the White Moon trying to tell me something? HAHA!



So in between each episodes, I kept going up and down our 2nd floor terrace to check on the moon. Whew! I think I burned a lot of calories there! Well, maybe I was secretly hoping to see Queen Serenity or Sailor Moon herself? LOL! =^_^=



So anyways, I didn't catch the lunar eclipse. Hehe. But I still managed to take some shots at the start. They aren't the best but these will do. I guess.



The Sailor Moon episodes got me too preoccupied. ^_^ Damn anime babes!



The penumbral lunar eclipse on February 9, 2009 is not the only eclipse to occur during the year. The list of eclipses for 2009 includes:

• An annular solar eclipse on January 26.
• A penumbral lunar eclipse on February 9.
• A penumbral lunar eclipse on July 7.
• A total solar eclipse on July 22.
• A penumbral lunar eclipse on August 6.
• A partial lunar eclipse on December 31.
