Review: Snow Skin Whitening Soap

Let's face it. No matter how hard you try to stay out of the sun, living in a tropical country with skin that tans so easily is a huge challenge for anyone who wants to keep an even skintone. Honestly, I'm not really into wanting to get super fair-skinned. I'm only after skin lightening, not whitening per se. With so many products out there to choose from, it's gets exacting to pick the ones that work. You'll need to keep in mind that these beauty products work on a case-to-case basis. I keep telling my friends that what works for me, might not work for them and vice-versa. It's really all about trial and error.
So last month, I happened to notice that my legs are significantly lighter than my arms. Wait, how or when did that happen? Hmm. I can't blame anyone but myself for this since I've been driving my son to his Play & Learn classes, and a lot of times I keep forgetting to slather sunblock only to regret later on when I'm stuck in traffic and my arms are out there getting sizzled by the sun.
I took this opportunity to road test a whitening product I came across with and it's called SNOW SKIN WHITENING SOAP. The box has the unmistakable vector of the Disney princess Snow White sans the eyes and nose. That clearly gives you an idea what the soap does. You know I've tried quite a number of whitening soaps in the past. Some of them worked for me, although most of them I should say really takes some time to take effect... oftentimes a month to see visible results.
What struck me most about the Snow Skin Whitening Soap is that it doesn't look like your normal whitening soap. First of all, because it's transparent yellow in color and secondly, it contains 7 plant extracts from the Swiss Alps. Hmmm, interesting...
Basically, the soap is enriched with natural skin lightening complex and one of which is the optimal skin penetrating formula called GIGAWHITE containing the following 7 plant extracts from the Swiss Alps: Veronica Officinalis (Speedwell) extract, Melissa Officinalis (Lemon Balm) left extract, Achillea Millefolium (Yarrow) extract, Malva Sylvestris (Mallow) extract, Mentha Piperita (Peppermint) leaf extract, Primula Veris (Cowslip) extract, and Alchemilla Vulgaris (Lady's Mantle) extract. I understand that this is an active ingredient that promotes skin lightening with anti-age spot activity.
Aside from that, the soap also contains ACE-B3 which is basically an antioxidant complex and is a potent combination of Aloe Vera extract for skin moisturizing and protection, Vitamin C to help protect against photodamage, Vitamin E for free radical defense, and Niacinamide B3 for skin clarifying and lightening.
If you've actually read what I just wrote above, it's obviously meant for skin lightening and not necessarily whitening, which is exactly what I'm looking for! So how is it used? Well, just like regular soap. Then you'll need to leave it for 2-3 minutes on your skin before rinsing. You can use it on your face, too. But since I have a separate product for facial wash, I use the Snow Skin Whitening Soap only for my body, most specifically my arms, torso, and back.
It has the same effect as those bleaching soaps I have tried in the past. For sensitive skin, you may feel a sort of itching sensation. I experienced it for the first few days and I thought my skin got sensitive and all. As soon as I can feel the bearable itch, I wash it off immediately. However, I continued using it because I'm stubborn like that and it eventually went away. For those with extra sensitive skin, you might want to consult your skin doctor first.
A bar of Snow Skin Whitening Soap costs Php 149.00 and it is available in Mercury drugstores and SouthStar Drugstores. You can buy 2 bars and get 1 for FREE! (Click HERE!) A whole bar lasted me about 4 weeks and this is my result, so far.
